The historic picturesque market town of Totnes, 11 miles, with its cobbled streets offers a fascinating variety of shops and charming tea rooms. River excursions can be enjoyed on the River Dart, whose valley is also the route for regular and photogenic steam railway journeys from Totnes to Buckfastleigh.
The ancient ports of both Salcombe, 10 miles, and Dartmouth, 11 miles, both offer boat trips and sea fishing. For walkers wishing to explore, both the Dartmoor National Park and the South Devon Coastal Paths are within easy touring distance. Horse riding 2 miles and trout fishing 5 miles.
