300 year old, detached thatched cottage
Peacefully tucked away beside a country lane, in the pretty west Dorset village of Puncknowle (pronounced Punnell), is this idyllic, 300 year old, detached, thatched holiday cottage, set in its delightful enclosed lawned garden.
It has been sympathetically renovated and tastefully furnished yet retains much original charm. The beams in the bedrooms have been taken from shipwrecks along the Dorset coast. Downstairs are two inglenook fireplaces with superb woodburners, one still with the original bread oven.
The cottage makes a superb base from which to explore beautiful west Dorset, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, abounding in walks and bridle paths. In particular guests can explore the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast stopping along the way at the picturesque seaside town of Lyme Regis with quaint shops, Cobb, harbour and beach, Charmouth, West Bay and along the renowned Chesil Beach, 2 miles, to Weymouth with its many famous attractions. Dogs are welcome on the local National Trust beach all year round.
