The island is popular for nature lovers, divers, windsurfers and walkers with its miles of coastal and inland footpaths. Portland forms part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and Chesil Beach starts in Portland and runs 18 miles to West Bay. Close by is Weymouth with its Georgian seafront, harbour and wonderful sandy beach and many cafes and 2 RSPB reserves. Shops, restaurant and pubs 200 yards.
