Description of Lyddons Mead

Quietly situated on the edge of a hamlet, and accessed by a private road, this superb, very spacious single-storey property enjoys an elevated position with wonderful, far-reaching views over the surrounding countryside towards the Quantock Hills. It forms one half of the entire property (the owners occupy the other half) and stands in beautiful landscaped gardens complete with a shared outdoor swimming pool, and private patio with furniture and barbecue. The house offers a spacious living room connected by an archway to a delightful sun room with pitched ceiling and large windows, allowing the superb rural views and magnificent sunsets to be enjoyed to the full. The lower ground floor is reached by a spiral staircase and houses an extra large bedroom with a quarter-sized snooker table.
The county town of Taunton is nearby for shopping, restaurants and entertainment, while Exmoor and the Quantocks offer superb walking, riding and wildlife. The coast is also close at hand. The lively resort of Minehead with its sandy bay and harbour, can be reached via the West Somerset Steam Railway from nearby Bishop’s Lydeard. Travelling west from Minehead, there is superb coastal scenery which can be enjoyed from the coastal path which leads on towards picturesque Porlock and beyond. Eastwards is the long sandy bay of Weston-super-Mare.
From the property many places of interest are within easy reach, including Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Wells, Glastonbury and several National Trust properties, such as Dunster Village and Castle, Montacute House and Barrington Court, making this a very well situated holiday base. Shop 2 miles.
