Description of Talbothays Cottage

Dating back to 1893, Talbothays Cottage was designed by Thomas Hardy, who used the cottage’s name for the dairy in his book Tess of the D’Urbervilles, which he wrote at his home Max Gate (NT) a few miles away. Several walks can be enjoyed from the door along the nearby coastal paths, and World Heritage coastline. Moreton, where Lawrence of Arabia is buried, is just 5 miles away. Dorchester with its various restaurants and shops, 21/2 miles, pub 1½ miles.
