Description of Goldwell Granary

This granary is part of the 15th century farm house, that has been converted to a very good standard with beams throughout, and is located on the edge of the village in the North Downs in an AONB. Once inhabited by the Romans and more recently in the 19th century, infamous for its smuggling connections, most notably the Ransley Gang where one of the local pubs was used as the headquarters. The village has a wonderful butchers with bakery that has won many awards and a newsagent/convenience store that sells a great selection of cheeses and picnic produce. There are two pubs in Aldington, one within walking distance that has a separate restaurant area. An ideal holiday place for walking on the Saxon Shoreway footpath. Beaches at Hythe and Dymchurch, 5 miles. Port Lympne wild animal park, 21/2 miles. McArthur Glen designer discount retail outlet, 41/2 miles. Romney Hythe and Dymchurch steam railway, 7 miles. Euro tunnel and trips to Paris, 8 miles. Stabling and livery by arrangement. Shop and pub 1/2 mile.
