Check out Barmouth’s maritime heritage around the harbour area: the Sailors Institute, fascinating Shipwreck Museum, the Round house and the Lifeboat Museum. Bask on the golden dunes and walk across the picturesque Estuary on the toll bridge or climb aboard the tiny harbour ferry. Hop aboard the enchanting Fairbourne & Barmouth Steam Railway for superb estuary views and there are plenty of angling trips offered from Barmouth’s harbour. It’s also an easy drive to enjoy epic Harlech Castle and the great Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth.
