
A bustling attractive Victorian town, Pitlochry is surrounded by beautiful mountains dotted with lochs, rivers and rugged hilltops. Famously visited by Queen Victoria in 1842, the town soon grew into a popular tourist spot and, with its great shops, local eateries and renowned theatre, Pitlochry has remained a great favourite. A superb cottage holiday base, enjoy hill walking, cycling, riding or just soaking up the fantastic scenery, wildlife and fresh mountain air.
There are many and varied treks around Pitlochry from a pleasant stroll by the famous Hydro Electric Power scheme and Salmon leap to the 79 mile long Rob Roy Way. Running a repertoire of six plays from May to October enjoy a night at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre and a great day at Blair Castle: a fabulous Scottish Castle set within its massive estate. Pitlochry is also home to one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, an excellent golf club and great amusement park for the kids.
