Argyll is a mecca for wildlife lovers, watersports enthusiasts, walkers and anglers, be it Arran’s Neolithic remains, ancient standing stones and abundant wildlife; Mull’s craggy coast line, white sandy beaches, eagles and castles or the mainland’s picturesque scenery, activities and attractions.  The mountains of Lorn, stunning back drop to the charming little port of Oban, are a favourite with walkers and cyclists.  The port is the departure point for ferries to Mull and it’s a superb cottage holiday base to enjoy everything the region has to offer.

Things to do in Argyll

Feel the vibe around the ancient standing stones at Machrie on the Isle of Arran and, check out the Kings Cave where Robert the Bruce reputedly met that influential little spider and superb Brodick Castle and Country Park.  On Mull watch the eagles lazily circle on the thermals, spot red deer and otters while the little ones will love Tobermory, home of TV’s Balamory and sea bound boat trips to spot the wildlife.

From Oban, Scotland’s seafood capital, visit the nearby sea life sanctuary on the banks of Loch Creran where you’ll find a fantastic display from shrimps to stingrays.  Pick up some pointers from the local sailing schools and make a date to join the vibrant regatta of West Highland Yachting Week that centres on Craobh, Oban and Tobermory where you’ll rub shoulders with competitors and visitors from around the world.
