Things to do in the Peak District

The Peak District was made for wonderful days out in the fresh air.  Taking your own route with a map or guided walk, there are hundreds of miles of way marked paths to enjoy, taking you through superb scenery and past plenty of great pubs serving seasonal grub for hungry explorers.  Cyclists are also well catered for.  There are many cycle hire shops with routes that take you along miles of abandoned railway lines for safe off road fun.  A little known secret is the great trout fishing to be found in the region, check out Derwent Reservoir at Ladybower for a day’s fishing to remember!

Caves are an exciting feature of the Peaks and there are great ones to explore including Poole’s Cavern and the interestingly named Devil’s Arse with the largest cave entrance in the British Isles.  Culture vultures head for stunning 18^th century Baroque Calke Abbey, Chatsworth House home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and perhaps our finest and best loved stately home; not forgetting majestic Tudor Haddon Hall and romantic Bolsover Castle.
