It’s often said: “There’s more to Cromer than crabs.” And it’s true, there’s much more! You’ll be pushed to find a restaurant that doesn’t serve this delicious local delicacy, but Cromer has much more besides. Dubbed ‘Poppyland’ by travel writer Clement Scott, Cromer became popular in Victorian times and enjoyed the patronage of celebrities including Arthur Conan Doyle, Lily Langtry and members of the Royal family.
With its sumptuous sand and shingle beach, cliffs, rock pools, charming pier and Pavilion Theatre it’s easy to see why Cromer has remained a popular seaside resort to this day. With an annual carnival, folk festival, lifeboat day and firework display, there’s always something to do and enjoy, and all minutes from your welcoming holiday cottage.
In Cromer itself ‘must sees’ include the Cromer Boating Lake with its crazy golf, trampolines and paddle boats. Also, the magnificent Cromer Pier with shops, restaurant, Pavilion Theatre and bags of fresh sea air! Not far away is the RNLI Henry Blogg Museum with a fascinating history of the lifeboat and don’t forget the beach; a great spot for surf beginners and fine cliff top walks to Cromer Lighthouse.
For golfers there are several courses to choose from including The Royal Cromer Golf Club. Heritage lovers can enjoy numerous English Heritage and National Trust sites including magnificent Felbrigg Hall. Between Sheringham and Cromer the beautiful Priory Maze and Gardens is a great day out, as is the Norfolk Shire Horse Centre and fabulous Amazona Zoo.
