In Ambleside itself, you’ll find The Armitt Collection, a museum, gallery and library detailing over 2000 years of local history, open seven days a week and Rydal Mount and Gardens the picturesque home of William Wordsworth.  Get out on the water with the whole family on a Lake Cruise aboard one of the famous steamers and visit neighbouring Bowness and Lakeside where you’ll find the Lakeside Aquarium and Steam Railway.  All of which makes Ambleside a wonderful destination for your great value Lake District cottage holiday.
