Heritage lovers head for Queen Victoria’s sumptuous summer retreat with its beautiful gardens at Osborne House, the Isle of Wight’s Steam Railway and stunning Carisbrooke Castle, once the prison of King Charles I, now home to the famous Carisbrooke Donkeys who work the 16th century well wheel.
For superb days out everyone will enjoy Appuldurcombe House and Falconry displays, Mottistone Manor GardensCalbourne Water Mill and Rural Museum. The Isle of Wight loves a festival and there are plenty to choose from throughout the year. From Cowes annual regatta, attracting over 1,000 boats it’s the largest regatta in the world, to the top acts headlining at the annual Isle of Wight Music Festival and many more local fate days and country shows.
