Holiday Cottages in Weymouth

Weymouth

From Georgian seafront strolls to exciting festivals and celebrations, plus adrenaline filled watersports in beautiful Portland harbour, Weymouth – the largest town in Dorset – is a great cottage holiday destination. Water skiing, windsurfing, sailing, angling and diving are all to be found around the harbour and it’s no surprise that the world will be coming to Weymouth for the 2012 Olympic sailing regatta.

But there’s more to Weymouth than simply fabulous watersports.  Situated in a sheltered bay at the mouth of the River Wey, with its clean, safe, sandy beaches and mild climate it’s as popular with discerning holidaymakers today as it was with King George III who loved the area. Offering great shopping, restaurants, superb gardens and a World Heritage Site coastline and you’ve also got a haven for walkers, cyclists, wildlife and nature lovers.

Things to do in Weymouth

Out and about in and around Weymouth head for Brewers Quay a maze of cobbled streets and Victorian buildings that now house a great mix of shops, eateries, kids’ zone and heritage museum.  Kids will also love Monkey World in Wareham and Weymouth Sealife Park and blowing the cobwebs away along the stunning World Heritage Site of Chesil Beach.

If you enjoy fine gardens head for Bennetts Water Gardens with its national and international collection of water lilies and Abbots Subtropical Gardens, Swannery and Children’s Farm.  Bird watchers are spoilt for choice with RSPB Reserves in Lodmoor, Radipole and Portland.  For a different and exciting day out why not hop aboard a high speed ferry and visit the Channel Islands or take one of the many leisure boat trips available from the harbour?  All close to your holiday cottage in beautiful Weymouth.
