The unique town of Dartmouth, home to the Royal Naval College and annual River Regatta, has a long maritime history going back hundreds of years and is famously the spot from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail on the Mayflower bound for America.  The town is set on the beautiful River Dart and you’ll find its maritime heritage reflected in many place names of its charming narrow streets, today filled with boutique shops, quality restaurants, delis and art galleries.

The surrounding Devon countryside is dotted with picturesque coastal villages to explore in an area of outstanding natural beauty.  Within easy reach of some of the cleanest beaches in Britain on the fabulous Devon coast it’s a great spot for a self catering cottage holiday.

As well as the wonderful shops and cobbled market place, Dartmouth offers plenty of activities and attractions for everyone.  From its outdoor heated swimming pool to the unusual Dartmouth Museum and the Flavel Arts Centre where you’ll find the cinema, exhibitions and live events.   In August join the famous Dartmouth Regatta and take to the water at anytime of year on a tranquil River Trip or overland on the Paignton Steam Railway through glorious countryside.
