A famous seaport, Brixham has played host to many well known historical figures including Admiral Lord Nelson and William of Orange, who landed here in 1688.  A century before Brixham watched as Sir Frances Drake attacked the Spanish Armada after finishing off his game of bowls and a full sized replica of Drake’s ship The Golden Hind is a popular attraction in Brixham Harbour today.

Situated on the South Devon coastline, Brixham makes up part of the Torbay area often referred to as ‘The English Riviera’ because of its mild climate and great resorts. Surrounded by luscious scenery and towering cliffs, stroll round the yachts packed marina, enjoy the unique shops, take a boat trip or simply soak up the exciting bustle of this popular fishing port.

Things to do in Brixham

Visit the Golden Hind in Brixham harbour or check out our amazing maritime history at the Brixham Heritage Museum.  Shore fishing is a popular pastime in Brixham, check out the many harbour side kiosks offering wreck and shark fishing or boat trips around the bay.  If getting in the water is more appealing enjoy the many great beaches in the area and diving clubs for deep water exploring.

The nature reserve at Berry Head just outside Brixham is home to rare plants and wildlife, and the spectacular setting of Dartmouth Castle makes for a great day out.   Little ones will love Babbacombe Model Village, hop aboard the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway and go wet and wild at theme park Quaywest.
