Found between the heather topped hills of Exmoor National Park and the National Heritage coastline, Minehead is a perfect spot for a superb cottage holiday. The pretty harbour, busy little fishing fleet and its long sandy beach make for a picturesque seafront while the attractive thatched cottages of the old town and landscaped parks, including award-wining Blenheim Gardens, make it a town worth savouring and exploring at any time of year.
Minehead marks the beginning of the South West Coast Path, and the Exmoor National Park is right on your doorstep so walkers are never short of a spectacular stroll. The longest heritage railway in Britain, the West Somerset Railway also sets off from Minehead and Butlin’s on the seafront provides plenty of traditional seaside fun for the family. Elsewhere, visit romantic Dunster Castle with its dramatic clifftop location, tee off at the oldest golf course in Somerset and head to the beach for some great windsurfing and sandcastles.
