There are conflicting reasons given for Rock’s odd name, from the shortened form of Black Rock, to the sailing ship ballast taken from local quarries. Something not in dispute, however, is the popularity of this lovely little town, its fantastic golden beach and sheltered glittering waters. Close to Padstow (a foot ferry ride away), Rock is a super holiday spot, popular with the well heeled you’ll find great shops, galleries, delis and a Michelin starred restaurant to entice you. A haven for watersports enthusiasts you can be as relaxed or as busy as you choose!
Make use of that fabulous sandy beach, great for families and, at low tide, you can walk round to Daymer Bay. If you enjoy watersports choose from sailing, wind surfing, water skiing and bags more, plus the daily fishing and scenic boat trips on the waterfront. Surfers enjoy nearby Polzeath beach and you’re also close to the unspoilt fishing village of Port Issac. Cycle on the Camel Trail and walk the South West Coast path.  Nearby attractions include the Eden Project and Elizabethan stately home of Prideaux Place.
