Named after the patron saint of tin miners, St Pirin, and ‘porth’ meaning landing, just to the south of Newquay, Perranporth is a much loved seaside spot with a superb broad sandy beach, boating lake, park, caves and miles and miles of walks and bridleways to explore and enjoy. A favourite with sun worshipers and surfers, this vibrant little town has bags of great shops, cafés and pubs. You’re close to an Iron Age hill camp and dune top golf course with super views across the beach and out to sea.
Enjoy the shops, bars and cafés of Perranporth then wander to the beach for picnics, sandcastles and some kite surfing. On the beach at Chapel Rock you’ll find a tidal bathing pool cut into the rock – a great warm paddle for the little ones. Explore local caves and spot wildlife from the many fine cliff top walks. Enjoy the local pony trekking and make a trip to the Iron Age Fort of Piran Round and more recent Millennium Sun Dial. Tee off at Perranporth Golf Club and kids will enjoy Miniatura Park and Newquay Zoo.
