The ancient little village of Crantock is found just south of Newquay. This charming spot offers a post office and general store for all the essentials, snug pubs and craft shops as well as a beautiful old parish church and chapel. The broad golden sands of Crantock Bay were recently voted no.1 best beach in the Telegraph Travel Supplement and West Pentire headland is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with glorious wild flowers and wildlife. Nearby you’ll also find ‘Polly Joke’ a smaller beach (look out for the resident Jackdaws!) and both are great for swimming, rock pooling and exploring the local caves, plus the South West Coast path passes nearby.
A hidden gem on the estuary of the River Gannel, Crantock is a superb place for a cottage holiday in Cornwall, the beautiful enticing beaches and endless miles of waymarked walks along West Pentire headland and the South West Coast Path are a must. In Crantock village the Round Garden is the site of ancient Celtic church, there’s a well and Old Albion Inn – renowned for its smuggling past! Vibrant Newquay is a short drive away with many attractions including bags of watersports, zoo and aquarium.
