Further afield Cambridgeshire is renowned for its fen land, home to abundant wildlife and wonderful nature reserves, you can also enjoy fishing and boating on some of the least populated waterways in Britain.  Visit the Ship of the Fens, Ely Cathedral, or simply enjoy walking, riding and cycling, visiting many of the fine houses and glorious gardens en route.  For more adrenaline fuelled fun check out Thetford Forest for some tree top adventure, plus fantastic watersports, hiking, golfing and wildlife parks to keep everyone happy.

Things to do in Cambridgeshire

Spend some time in Cambridge, exploring its ancient streets and colleges.  Home to one of the premiere universities in the world, you’ll also find superb shopping, great pubs, nightlife and eateries to enjoy.  Take a punt on the River Cam or stroll the University’s fabulous Botanical Gardens, taking your pick of the fabulous range of museums, galleries and regular festivals on offer.

If you enjoy wildlife make a beeline for the RSPB nature reserve at Ouse Wash, where migrating birds stop over, plus Britain’s oldest nature reserve at Wicken Fen home to wild ponies, rare plants and otters. Little ones will love Pigeon Farm Children’s Activity Centre where you can get up close and personal with the animals, plus for watersports head for Grafham Water where you’ll find cycle hire, picnic areas, fishing and nature trails.

Cambridgeshire also has a wealth of fine houses and ancient monuments.  See the fabulous cathedrals of Peterborough and Ely, fabulous Anglesey Abbey, Elton Hall, Oliver Cromwell’s home and not forgetting Nene Valley Railway for a great day out.
