Côte d’Azur Cottages

Holiday Cottages in Côte d’Azur

Welcome to Côte d’Azur

Part of the gorgeous Provence region, the Côte d’Azur’s country cottages, villas and apartments open up this popular area’s seductive attractions for everyone.  In the départements of Var and Alpes-Maritimes, from the vibrant port of Marseille, travelling east around the Mediterranean coast up to the little principality of Monaco, the French Riviera includes iconic and beautiful locations including Saint-Tropez, Antibes, Cannes, Juan-les-Pins and Nice.  The stunning coastline and glittering marinas of this region attract the rich and famous.  A hugely popular spot to kickback, relax and people watch, there are also lots of attractions and activities to keep everyone happy and having fun in the sun.

Just behind the golden beaches, tans and palm fringed boulevards there are lots of sleepy, traditional villages, castles, antiquity and art to enjoy.  Walking, hiking, climbing and mountain biking in Les Gorges du Verdon nature reserve are fantastic; great golf and of course bags of great watersports can fill your days, with the night’s spent eating al fresco as the vibrant resorts along the coast shift into another gear.

In Var explore the stunning scenery of the Calanques of Marseille. Saint-Tropez, when still just a village in the 50s, was capturing the imagination of the world as ‘the’ place for care-free, chic seaside fun; the ice creams may be a bit more expensive today but Saint-Tropez’s lost none of its draw!  Further along check out Grimaud – a medieval ‘perched’ village and sailed filled marina, and medieval Fréjus with its Roman antiquity.  Further east in Alpes-Maritimes you’ll find Cannes, Antibes and Renior’s home in Cagnes-sur-Mer; old town and harbour at Villefrance-sur-Mer and don’t forget a ‘must see’ tour of Monaco.  All this plus bags of water parks, safe beaches, wildlife and dinosaurs and everyone is kept happy!

Things to do in Côte d’Azur

The world famous beaches of Côte d’Azur are all about relaxing and having fun.  You’ll find fine sand, pebbles and rocky coves all within reach of your country cottage.  There are quite a few private beaches, well kept they will, however, mean a small entry fee.  Families love Vegaluna Plage in Cannes, or less populated, hop on a ferry to Ile de Porquerolles off the Giens Peninsula.

The beach is an endless source of fun for the little ones, but when you decide to stray further than the golden sands and turquoise water what can you expect?  Antibesland offers over 30 rides for a whole day’s fun, plus Marineland – Europe’s largest water park!  Get lost in the natural maze of Labyrinthe de L’Aventure in Grasse, enjoy Zoo de Saint Jean Cap Ferrat and Dinosaur Land in Azur Park Saint-Tropez.

For outdoor activities including climbing, canoeing, rafting and hiking visit the superb Mercantour National Park.  Watersports are huge, not just along the coast, but also on the lakes and rivers further inland.  Not to be missed are the Calanques south-east of Marseille.  These rocky limestone cliffs, inlets and fjords fringe this coastline with pines clinging to the cliff faces.  Breathtakingly beautiful, walk or climb for great views, you’ll find little beaches to swim in or take a boat trip out of Cassis to enjoy from the sea. Heritage lovers head for Nice and Museum of Matisse and Fréjus for antiquity.
