Lying on the northern coast of Brittany, Côtes-d’Armor (used to be the Côte du Nord) is renowned for its beautiful rugged coastline and quaint, picturesque villages. Often also referred to as the ‘Emerald Coast’ because of the rich colour of the sea you’ll also find it talked about as the pink granite coast too!

There are many small pretty fishing villages like Paimpol and Pluoha to explore with coastal walks and breathtaking views. There’s cycling, golf and plenty of flat sandy beaches – great for children, watersports and lazy picnics. A country cottage in the Côte-d’Armor also offers lots for heritage lovers with medieval walled towns, spectacular abbeys and châteaux, plus boat trips to see wildlife and the many small islands off this wonderful coastline.


Things to do in Côtes-d’Armor

Check out the medieval town of Dinan with its ancient ramparts and views over the River Rance, half timbered houses, a wonderful chateau and fascinating museum. Explore the stunning Ile de Bréhat – an island just off the coast. With its birds and rare flowers, this exotic island is reputed to be one of the most beautiful places in Brittany.

The pretty hilltop village of Tréguier is a great place to wander and has the spectacular Cathedral Saint-Tugdual, while Trestraou beach in Perros-Guirec is beloved of families and walkers; probably one of the best for children with soft sand, safe swimming and a beach club. You’ll also find fab coastal hikes a watersports centre for kayak and surfing lessons. One of Frances’ top attractions the medieval town and abbey of Mont St Michel set within its beautiful bay is well within reach of Côtes-d’Armor and well worth a visit.
