One of the most popular holiday regions in France, Brittany, on France’s north-west coast, pushes out into the Atlantic and is renowned for its fantastic watersports, Neolithic remains, spas, sumptuous food, heritage and picturesque islands dotted just off the Breton coast. If you like castles visit the town of Fougeres with its fabulous castle, Saint–Malo’s ramparts that kept out the pirates and the pottery and daily market at Quimper further to the south. Walkers and wildlife lovers head for the Crozon Peninsula and enjoy the many coastal and inland trails.
Golfers will enjoy the diverse range of courses available, and why not try something a little different? There are around 120 sailing schools on Brittany’s coast line to introduce you to the thrill and sea spray out on the Atlantic. Plus, the many boat cruises and trips out to the idyllic offshore islands that leave from Brittany’s wealth of marinas. There are also barge trips on the inland western rivers and canals from which to explore the medieval towns en route.
