A new route for the Tour De France 2010 was announced recently. Unlike in recent years where the Tour has favoured flat plains, next years race will take in more mountain climbs, which is great for fans of the race who want to visit France and soak up the delightful Alpine scenery, but less appealing for the cyclists who actually have to race it! Still, at least they’ve got the journey down to look forward to.

If you’d like to take a cottage holiday in France and catch part of the tour it will start on 3rd July in Rotterdam and end on 25th July at the Champs Elysees in Paris. Eleven of its twenty stages will include mountain climbs, including Morzine-Avoriaz, Luchon and Col du Tourmalet – the highest road in the Pyrenees. The plains part of the Tour will include a trip from Belgium across Northern France to Bordeaux, taking in parts of Burgundy.

At easycottages.com we have properties all over France, so why not check availability for 2010 to get the best possible view of the Tour? And if you’re feeling adventurous you could bring your own bike to see if you’ve got what it takes to be King of the Mountains!
